Square spreadsheets for a round world.
What is a nerd?
Anyone who has lots of specialized knowledge.
On any subject.
I used to think it was just accountants and technology people who struggled to communicate.
But I have discovered that what makes someone a nerd (which I see as a compliment) is his freakish interest in a subject. It's his obsession, his passion, his investment in training, studying and learning, his willingness to follow the mating habits of the "tufted titmouse" that turns an ordinary bird watcher into a nerd. It is that very same all-consuming knowledge that makes it hard for the rest of us to understand a single word he says.
What I offer is a bridge. A filter. A way to mold that volume of incredible insight into something that connects with everybody else.
It can be written messaging or webinars, a whitepaper, website, or a live presentation but the issue is the same -you need to connect to your audience.
This website is designed to share insights from my own quest to communicate accounting and technology subjects in a new and entertaining way.
My personal nerd tendencies lean heavily towards Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, pens, software tools, and anything that involves math.
Financial Statements are a personal passion. Most people just don't understand them. It's pretty depressing when you spend your days creating something no one can understand - especially when it's in balance and everything.
You can't solve the problem by just changing the medium.
Converting a financial statement from a printed report to 40 PowerPoint slides does nothing to improve the meaning or value of the information. Boring information on paper equals boring information on slides. Unintelligible data is still unintelligible when you add cutesy clipart to the slide. (Hence the video below.)
If you need a translator, are looking for an angle, want to connect financial statements with wine or gerbil workouts with technology I might be able to help.
